So our Basement wall was completed yesterday. It's pretty cool to see it done. The masons left a great deal of broken block and fragments thrown into the footer areas that will get back filled after waterproofing. While I certainly appreciate any contribution to filling up the space, I am concerned because neither dirt nor gravel can possibly fill all the cells of the block pieces which I would think will lead to more settlement after the floor is poored. I have put my concerns in an email to my Field Mgr. and the Construction Mgr. Anxious to hear their opinion.

This looks like a much better base than the cubes all piled up! But I'm old and lazy and don't think I should have to sledge the remaining 50 feet of it. We'll see what happens.
