Block wall about done!

Despite rain yesterday, the masons were able to make good progress on the basement wall. As of Today it's pretty much finished except for the sunroom area - which got scooped, rocked and footered. That's right... Finally got the sunroom footer resolved. Tomorrow the mason will put up the block in the sunroom and pour the cores around the basement where the vertical rebar is located. Plan is to waterproof Friday and backfill early next week. Then the fun begins as the 110 day clock to completion starts ticking!

Be sure to see video below to see the wall almost completed. Video was shot standing in my (not our :) garage. My sweet, beautiful garage.

Sunroom area after scooping out sludge from spring and filling with #1 and #2. I'm talking about rock people. Not the #1 and #2 I've been tempted to fill it with.

My mason working hard as my field manager and I look on from a higher perch.

Well miracles do happen! That's an actual footer poured for our sunroom. Great job everyone that made this happen. We all learned a bit. Poured extra wide with extra rebar.

Water level rising fast from spring to drain tile height. Flow is slow enough to allow tile to carry it away. Sounds good on paper anyways! Have no doubt sun room will be most solid part of the foundation after what we did this morning.

  1. Do not get rid of that sun room! We finished our framing and as expected, the sun room is going to be the main focus of the house. Keep plugging away and hopefully everything will stay safe and none of the house will get damaged. Good luck.
