10 days in and we have a great start. Framers did a great job framing up the house. There are gaps and light leaks in many places but wood panels won't match seamlessly and one of the reasons I chose to build with Wayne Homes was a tour I did of a house of theirs under construction. All joints on exterior walls were caulked nicely to seal gaps. I'll post pictures of that when the time comes. Energy efficiency is a big deal to us so we went with 2x6 walls with higher R-Value insulation. I'm sure they'll do a great job caulking our house if for no other reason than to not have to listen to me gripe about something else. Overall, we are pleased with the current state of the house. I've had some freak outs along the way, but I don't hold anyone's work to a higher standard than I would do if someone were paying me and some of my concerns were well founded.
Had a meeting early this morning with our Field Manager. He was spraying the floor with locations of door direction, cabinets, plumbing fixtures etc. My wife and I both had a great experience as we discussed some changes. Our FM had some good ideas and suggestions and listened to what we were wanting to do and worked with us to come up with the best way to make those things happen. Quite frankly, this has been the best day in the process so far. Was starting to think I was never going to enjoy the process and only be stressed. But I'm definitely feeling great about what's going on and the plan moving forward. So thanks MM.
And looking back from the very beginning, I can say that our sales person did a great job with us when trying to decide which options to pick as like most people, we kept changing our minds to get to the final version. Thanks J! Also thanks to P, our pre-construction coordinator on color selections and floor plan changes. Standing in the house at this stage of the build really brings into focus the fruits of the work done up front by Wayne Homes staff. So thanks to everyone for your part in our build project!
