Day 64 - Walls painted - Doors and trim being painted.

The interior walls are painted. One coat of primer tinted to match the paint color and 1 additional coat of paint on top.

 We are going tomorrow to add some color to the beige walls. We told our painter earlier in the week we were painting our sun room yellow. He happened to have some from a previous job and as a pleasant surprise, painted his 2nd coat of paint as yellow instead of beige. The wife was EXTREMELY happy to see it.

Gone native.

I've officially gone native.
When my dreams have turned from a Camaro to a tractor, something is seriously wrong. A farmer comes to cut our field grass (and the neighbors') for hay. Saves us mowing acreage and he gets free hay. I have a terrible case of tractor envy watching him cruise around my field in his air conditioned tractor. Didn't know tractor envy even existed. It does.

Even the front tires are on steroids!!!

Day 63 (July 18th)

Painting has continued this week. The house walls are getting wrapped up. Now the painter will starting spraying the trim boards and interior doors soon. Our cabinets are in the garage and scheduled to be installed this Saturday. We will be painting some of our walls Saturday to give them some color. We just went with the standard beige from Wayne Homes in the whole house. That will be a good base for us to paint over here and there.

This past Tuesday my excavator stopped out to cover up the water line trench since I got the pipe through the wall last weekend. Spent way too much time out in the 90+ degree heat moving dirt with my trusty rake as we filled some of the low areas against the house walls where rain likes to collect. It's either a soaked swamp down there or a parched Hell. Maybe we'll have a nice fall this year. Maybe.

Had a landscaper come down last night to ballpark a price for spreading seed. He said $4k to $5k. We parted company. Waiting on another quote to come in. Hoping for something more reasonable or I'm calling in all my markers for free computer repair all these years in exchange for grass seed and straw spreading!!

Day 58 (July 13th)

This Saturday the painter was down working on the house. He was priming the walls with primer tinted the color of our final paint (beige). It's nice to see it starting to really come together.

I spent the day knocking a hole through my block wall to run a PVC sleeve for the water line to come through. I had to dig out a big muck hole on the outside which wasn't too fun. I drilled the inside of the wall first. Then drilled a hole through the center of my knockout to the outside wall so I knew where to drill from outside. No room to work on the outside and very muddy. Plus Knocking out the hole on the outside wall was harder since the large socket I used on the inside as a punch decided to make it's permanent home inside my block wall. Oops! Looks like I owe my brother a socket.

I graveled the pit for better drainage in case water makes it down this far through soil.

Day 55 - Ceilings textured

2 guys textured all my ceilings today, including the garage. Instead of the standard stomp, we paid extra to get a "knockdown" pattern. Everyone does it a little different. These look good but the pics are hard to see and it still being wet doesn't help. I'll upload better pics when it is dry.

Cabinets showed up and are sitting in the garage. Interior doors are in the basement. Base trim is staged in great room.

Another "End-of-Days" storm came through today. I have a moat around my house right against my foundation wall. Once again (too many to count at this point), I went out and hand dug trenches to release water away from the wall. When the stone guys were working their footsteps packed the dirt at the wall so the water has a natural place to fill and sit. I hate Ohio weather.

Day 52 (July 7)

Stonework on front has been been completed for several days. Since last post it's been mostly having the drywall taped and mudded getting ready for the ceiling guys and finish sanders. It has rained pretty much everyday. And not the gentle kind.
